Jewish Family Service hosts film about aging in the LGBT Community

Community residents are invited to join the Jewish Family Service on March 30 for a showing of the critically acclaimed documentary Before You Know It. This film focuses on the lives of LGBT senior adults who have surmounted prejudice and defied expectation to form communities of strength, renewal and camaraderie. The event begins with refreshments at 5:30 p.m. and the movie showing at 6 p.m. Following the film there will be open discussion.

The movie is free and open to the public. Please RSVP online or call 330-867-3388 to reserve your spot. The filming will be held at the Schultz Campus for Jewish Life, 750 White Pond Drive in Akron.

“We’re so thrilled to be sharing this film with the community. It has the power to spark a valuable discussion about the often-overlooked members of the LGBT community, especially those over the age of 55,” said Gizelle Jones, executive director of Jewish Family Service.

Jewish Family Service provides important resources and support for Akron’s senior LGBT residents. This program is made possible through a grant from the Gay Community Endowment Fund, an Akron Community Foundation Fund.
